“ LEGAL IMAGINATION

Portrait by Michel Faure, Journalist & writer

Graduated from ESSEC and holder of a master’s degree in international taxation from the University of Paris XII, a lawyer since 1993, Christian Couderc started out in the tax team of Clifford Chance by participating in the first corporate “auction”. He then joined the PriceWaterhouseCoopers law firm when setting up his “Mergers & Acquisitions/Private Equity” department. He left this firm after ten years to create in 2005, with Hervé-Antoine Couderc and Frédéric Bucher, the Sarrau Thomas Couderc law firm (now STC Partners) where he leads the corporate tax department. This firm innovates by developing sophisticated remuneration tools for managers in LBO transactions, and is quickly becomes the reference for “private capital”. In 2014, he was seconded to Switzerland, where he still resides, and participates in investment, M&A and international succession cases in a rapidly changing Franco-Swiss tax environment.

His significant experience makes Christian Couderc one of the most successful lawyers in the field of private capital advice in all its aspects.

With more than 100 deals to his credit, private equity is a natural ecosystem for him, where he has been able to stand out due to his mastery of the most complex financial mechanisms. He also has a real passion for entrepreneurial clients and has been providing advice to some business leaders for more than twenty years. They appreciate his communicative enthusiasm, his sense of commitment and his creative imagination from a legal point of view. “What is known as Family Business, says Christian Couderc, requires careful listening and empathy towards customers. We end up being familiar and appreciate one another. Satisfied with our advice and support, they are grateful to us for making a point of always finding solutions to their demands, even in the most tense situations and faced with the most complex problems. This is essentially the reason why they seek our advice.”
